Hi again,

about two weeks ago I posted a Tyrolean Rebel, that I printed 3D instead of 28mm in 60mm.

Here is his counterpart - a Bavarian Light Infantryman of Regiment No4 - Theobald.

It was fun but also hard to paint a figure in this scale. I don´t have the experience in painting this scale and so it was much harder for me than painting a 28mm miniature.

But the result is rather good and I will surely scale up some more figures of the beautiful range of PianoWargames. (https://pianowargames.de/de)

So maybe some more figures in this scale to come soon. But before that I will have to work on my other projects in 28mm like DeadMansHand, The Tyrolean Rebellion, Muskets and Tomahawks (AWI), my SYW Russian Army and so on ...

The best in our hobby is that you always can decide to paint what you want. It is not business where you have to fulfill deadlines. That´s really fine and I enjoy this very much.

Showcases for every size you want

today´s post is a little bit uncommon. 

I am going to show my diorama of the „Battle of Leuthen“ from JohnJenkinsDesign next week on a fair from the club that I am a member of.

In order to protect the figures from touching or even stealing fingers I had a look for a light and transportable display. But it also had to be of the right size.

I found a shop in Germany who is making acrylic cases just in every size you want. You only have to fill in the length, height and depth and they make the special case you are looking for.

Not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. Thinking of the costs you would have to spent on acrylic plates in the diy store it is even cheaper. And then you would have to fix these plates. The cases delivered by Sora are well prepared and fixing is no problem. So it is a very good choice and worth the money.

And also a good thing - though the website told about 8 days of delivery it took two days until it came by post.

The GreatWar - A visit to the Passchendaele Memorial Museum

Hi again,

on our trip at the end of October we also visited the Passchendaele Memorial Museum in Zonnebeke, Belgium. 

The theme of the museum is the Third Battle of Ypres, also known as the Battle of Passchendaele of 1917. One the one side there have been the Germans - on the other side combined forces of British, Anzac and Canadian troops. The total loss of human lives is about 450.000 for only 8km gain of ground within 100 days of battle.

You can see a lot of exponates there. The first highlight was a dugout leading to a communication centre, a first-aid post, headquarters and beds for soldiers. The second highlight was to walk through trenches in the style how the Germans had built them and how their counterparts did.
