On the last day of our journey to Partizan Wargaming Convention our tour took us to CaliverBooks in Nottingham. (https://caliverbooks.com/)
I wonder how these guys put all the books and minis in such a small space. There seems to be no kind of organization but I am pretty sure that these guys know their stuff very well and know where to search for special items. In German we say "a genius controls the chaos".
This visit was a hunt for treasures. We have found so many exciting things there and went from room to room that took us two and a half hour. But we could have stayed there twice the time for sure. Revisiting Partizan will bring us back to this shop again. It´s a must.
I am sure the guys in the shop knew about the time we would spend in their rooms and first of all offered us some coffee and also some cookies. Thank you very much - you know how to deal with potential customers.
The following pictures try to give an impression of the large amount of books and the small spaces between the shelves. You sometimes had to watch your step not to step on things lying on the floor. Though it looks chaotic - it felt like a real treasure hunt.
If you ever should have the chance to get there - dive in and enjoy.
Cheers
Mike
And this is the start to our treasure hunt. Franz inspecting the first shelves. |
I would become crazy having to deal with this kind of organization. But the stuff of the store controls the chaos. |
Tons of figures in the shelves. |
Pieces of terrain. |
One room with the moulds for MiniFigs you can get from CaliverBooks. |
And the second room - part one... |
...part two. |
Some areas had been real challenges to get close to the shelves. :) |
Reminds me of the Bradford Train Shop Supermarket of the 1970s. What a cornucopia of delights.
ReplyDeleteYes, it has been a pleasure to search the single rooms. Everywhere wonderful things concerning the hobby.
DeleteIt's something that needs to be experienced as it's hard to explain, but it does come the closest I've ever come to a wargamers treasure hunt! We will for sure be returning there next time we visit!

I am waiting for our next treasure hunt there. :)
DeleteIt looks just as cluttered as their old shop in Leigh on Sea.
ReplyDeleteCluttered is a good description. Seeing the shop from the outside you would not expect the huge amount of books and miniatures inside.
