Vikings and Normans from the past

SAGA - Oh no, not another project please
Figures:  Crusader, Perry and others
Scale:  28mm

"And lead us not into temptation" - this was my first thought as I read on our club´s forum that two of my wargaming comrades decided to buy SAGA today.
Oh no, not another project.

But it sounds very interesting and I remembered that I painted up some Vikings and also some Normans a few years ago.
Here are some pictures just without any terrain.

These Vikings had been one of the first 28mm-minis I ever painted.
At that time I painted with Humbrol and Revell.

The Normans had already been painted with acrylic paints.

I still do have several unpainted figures of Vikings and Normans within my lead-mountain.

I think my comrades got me, too.
Or I am going to use their fascination for SAGA and sell my figures to them. :)

Cheers
Mike

  1. They look nice!

I've been giving it another thought as I love the period and I've decided to re-base my Vikings(of which I have plenty as you know!) and I'll be able to play SAGA easily. I already have terrain as well and a Viking ship!:-) It's not much of project for me as I already have most everything I need painted up except the re-basing.

  3. Stop it you! Every time I'm able to suppress the urge to start a SAGA or Dux Brit or Dux Bellor project someone comes along with some fantastically painted miniatures. Ugh, why can't there be more people in my area that want to play SAGA... I guess that means I will have to own multiple factions (ohhh nooo ;-) )

  5. do you need a short break from you syw-miniatures with these lovely uniforms? :-) nice figs! vikings are a very nice fraction in saga. your normans you could use for the new franks-fraction too, which will be released with the new saga-supplement!

    1. Hi Alex,

I won´t start painting Vikings, Saxons or Normans the next months. :)
I will have to paint up more units for SYW, especially the figures of my own range.

I think that there won´t be another period that is able to fascinate me like the SYW. :)

      Cheers
