Another test with AI - "Boxing in the WildWest"

Hi again,

can´t resist to bring my miniatures to life using the app "NaukNauk". Sometimes the app does not do what you want it to do. So often the result of the generated animation is not as you wanted it to be. But very often the animation comes out really funny.

So here´s another try of testing the AI app.

Dead Man´s Hand - WIP Part 3 - Buildung a Ranch from Sarrissa

today´s post is about my newest efforts on building or better finishing the Ranch of Sarrissa Precision.

Painting mdf is a always a struggle. Also the flat roof tiles with the sections where you can see the connection of the different parts are not real eyecandy. So I decided to pimp the model a little bit. I already did a similar work on another model of Sarrissa that came out quite cool.

Thank you for following part three of this modelling tutorial. Here is the photo-session.

After fixing wallpapers to all of the parts I realized that it would look much
 better to add some inner window frames. 

One reason why the gap between the last WIP-post and this post was the fact
that it was quite hard to find suitable wooden sticks in the right size. I found
some on ebay but they didn´t work very well for they easily broke. After some
time I finally found not ideal but much more better sticks in a hobby store.

Painting the frames with an acryl pen is really easy because you have more
control on a pen than on a brush. But unfortunately the pen got empty and
lost its opacity. 

So I had to finish the painting of the frames in the old style by using a brush
and normal acrylic paints.

Assembling and painting the window frames room by room and fixing the
first parts.

Also the doors got a frame.

I will have to do the same procedure on the ground floor. I missed to fix
window frames inside here.

Work in process - outside some windows are missing.
That´s for I had to check how the shingles would look like and how their
height would influence the transition to the windows.

The idea I got was to give the windows and the roof another layer of wooden sticks to get a better
transition between the shingles and the windows. 

I also put on two sticks on the sloping edges of the roof.

After this I went on to put "shingles" onto the roof. Therefore I used coffee stirs.

Not perfect, but not too bad. The painting and also some flock will hide it.

The first of the three roof parts of the first floor is done. This picture shows the difference between the
original roof of the model on the left and my version of the roof on the right. In my opinion my version
gives more depth and effect. The shingles are not fixed in a straight line. This also will give some more realism to the model.

After about 3 hours of work the shingles from the first floor had been glued 
into place. Next step will be to do the shingles on the main roof. But that will
be done within the next WIP.

It came out quite well in my opinion.

The paintjob will be done after having finished the main roof.

Dead Man´s Hand - WIP Part 2 - Building a Ranch from Sarrissa

after publishing my thoughts on the aims in hobby for this year within the last post I decided to start reducing my personal pile of shame by finishing a Ranch from Sarrissa Precision. This project was started in May last year as you can see by following this link:

In Bavaria the Christmas time ends with the celebration day of the Three Wise Men on January 6th. I was able to use this day for doing some more work on this project. It still needs some more work but the motivation is very high at the moment to finish the ranch soon.

Here are some pictures of my latest efforts.

The ground floor is done (background) - next step is to work on the first floor. The roof has to be done later.

First of all ther is a need to cover the inner walls of the ranch with some wallpapers. Therefore I searched the internet and printed some different patterns ...

... and after some time of crafting this ...

... becomes to this.

This has been very time consuming.

But i love the result.

Next step is to paint all these walls.

A first try on a smaller part to check if the colors fit with the colors of the ground floor that I painted several months ago.

Now the window has to be painted.

I had bought some acrylic paint markers also some months ago especially for this project.

The result is good though there´s a need of painting the parts two or three times.

While doing so I thought of bringing in a little more variety.

On the groundfloor I painted the lowest beam white. 

I think it looks nicer then the top beam is also painted white.

So - some corrections on the groundfloor had been done.

Painting all of these parts also took a lot of time.

The next steps will be to to do the roof parts that also surround the first floor. Before this step it doesn´t make sense to fix the windows.

Dead Mans Hand - Horses for the town

Hi,

I know that I will have to keep on my project dealing with the Tyrolean Rebellion. But at the moment there is a need in do something for my project of DeadMansHand.

In my club dealing with tin soldiers there is a exhibition once every year. As most of the collectors of the club will expose flat figures I want to try to give a demonstration on Wargaming, so that the visitors will get aware that these figures are not only for standing in displays but also can be used to play with.

I don´t want to show a battle of any time for most people would bother at. And as there is always someone who asks for political correctness my decision was made for DeadMansHand. It is easy to learn and I want to invite the visitors into some participation games.

Though I already have different gangs and also enough buildings for that there is a lack of civilians and some other stuff like horses. 

I´ve found some interesting horses at myminifactory.com. They fit very good into the scene. Only matter is that my camera didn´t take very good photos. The figures look much better in real life.

Dead Mans Hand - Mister Gibson and his wife on a sunday trip

Hi,

today´s my third day of my holidays and the first to be able to get my brushes and do some paint work.

Here is the result of my efforts of today. Mister Gibson had already been finished about two years ago. His wife was half finished and a part of my personal pile of shame. As I got some wagons and carts some weeks ago from HagenMiniatures (https://www.hagen-miniatures.de/lasercut-artikel/1-56-28mm/17-und-18-jahrhundert-487/) I decided to finish the lady, paint up a horse completely and also to give the cart a blue color.

The two riders are from a set of GreatEscapeGames and used to be passengers from the Stagecoach set. I just gave them another function and their own carriage.

I think it worked quite well. :)
