SYW - First pictures of new figure range

Manufacturer:  Dreispitz Miniatures
Scale:  28mm

Hi,

here are two pictures of some figures of my own planned figure range for the SYW.

The figures are not sculpted by myself. I was searching for a good sculpteur and a good caster for quite a time. Seems that I found both of them.

The figures shown will be Austrian Fusiliers and Grenadiers. The heads are missing at the moment. The poses are kneeling firing, standing firing, kneeling ready for fire, standing ready for fire. Except the pose "standing firing" there are no figures representing "at the ready" on the market.

I would like to know how you think about the figures. Are the proportions of the figures and of the uniforms okay?

Please give me some feedback for I would like to release high quality figures.

Many thanks.

Cheers

Mike

  1. Mike,
They are truly gorgeous thus far. I am sure you will have no problems on return of investment. Alte Fritz (Fife & Drum) seems to have already learned this first hand; quality figures are always in demand!

  2. Thank you David for your comment and also for joining my blog.

I forgot to point out that the figures were not sculpted by me. Otherwise they wouldn't have become so good. :)

    1. Hi Christopher,
I hired a sculpteur for this job. I won´t be able to do this.

  5. As I don´t know whether he wants to be named I just keep it as a little secret. But the figures are totally "Made in Germany" :)

  6. I cannot see how he wouldn't want anyone to know since the figures look very nice so far, but I respect your privacy on the subject.....for now.:-))))

  7. They do look good. I asume you have placed alongside thm figures from other suppliers ranges for combatability. This is important if you want to sell to guys already owning other figures in the period

    1. Hi Ian,

Yes I did. I want the figures to be compatible with FrontRank, Crusader and Foundry as these suppliers might have the greatest ranges concerning the SYW.

  8. Congatulations on this venture! The choice of poses is great, with the possible addition of loading men to complete the platoon fire picture in "Big Battalions".

Since you did ask about proportions, I'd say this is difficult to judge with the heads still missing. However they might perhaps look just a little heavy in the leg? (Even for figures meant to match Front Rank ;-) This impression may be due to the gaiter strap below the knee being rather prominent.

Very much looking forward to further WIP!

  9. Dear Mike - this is a very good surprise you give us being editor for new figures! I so wanted you could also produce sthg. in 40mm! I like the proportions very much, they seem to be weel-adjusted. The legs are very chunky ("bullig") as well-experienced troups. At the standing figures, ready to fire - maybe you could put the rifles a little bit on the left that the face will be shown.
It is also difficult to paint a figure without space between rifle and face.
I am very, very curious you will produce in the future!
    Sincerely
    Peter
