Hi,

after some smaller changes in detail and also changing the head of the figure formerly fixed with a too modern helmet for that period and painting its cloak from brown to black - and finishing an eighth figure - my first unit for my Hospitaller Army is ready for action.

here I´ve got some reinforcements for my army of Johanniters planned for SAGA - The Crescent & The Cross.
The army grows slowly, but steadily. :)

If you wonder why I also made pictures of the two figures I published in my last post - it is just because they had not been ready then - and of course five guys look more than three. :)

SAGA - The Crescent & The Cross - WIP

Damn, they got me…..

Some of my friends started to play SAGA a few months ago and have been very impressed by the rule system. So there is no wonder that the current rule system for SAGA called "The Crescent & The Cross" found its way to the bookshelf of my friends - and also to mine.

The rule book itself and the different tables and special dice you need for gaming the Christian Armies.

I was able to resist the call of the hard plastic packs of FireforgeGames for years. But now I had to surrender and last week as I had been in Berlin for business I found myself in the Shop of Battlefield Berlin buying a pack of Templar infantry and also one pack of Templar Knights Cavalry - and the rules - and the Christian dice - and …

Though it is a little bit tricky to fix the parts of the figures it is great fun and so 10 figures of the infantry had been assembled very soon as I couldn't await to use my brushes on the first figures.

First of all I had to decide what kind of Crusader army I would like to paint up. After asking my friends about their thoughts it will have to be the Knights of the so called "Johanniterorden". The Teutonic knights and also the Templar Knights had already been chosen by two other guys. But I have to say that I´m happy about that as I like the uniforms of that Order of Knights.

As I know myself I will have to paint these guys quite quickly before other projects will be awakened again and will disturb my efforts on these army. But for SAGA you don´t need too many figures and so this time it might be practicable.

Here are the results on my first two figures - but they will need some more work though they are nearly done. The bases have to be finished, the self-made arrows need some more paint and the cloak of the first guy may be painted up black instead of brown.

Rome - Late Republican Roman Legionary

Hi again,

though it´s only a single figure I thought of posting some pictures of this Roman Legionary from the age of Caesar. I bought two boxes of those guys and this is my master figure for testing how the whole unit could look.

The figures are hard plastic and are very easy to fix and glue. I had fun assembling the single figures.

Please feel free for critical comments. I´m not sure whether the shield is correct or if the silver parts (except the part in the middle) has to be red or even golden. Maybe there is an expert on the Roman armies who can help me here.

ACW - Confederate Infantry

Hello again,

a short time after my last post concerning the Confederate Cavalry I´m happy to present some photos of an unit of Confederate Infantry. 

Again Krisztian painted them up for me and also again the figures just needed to get their bases finished.

And here they are - set into a little scene on our fireplace as you can maybe see the tiles.

I´ve been quite diligent within the last week due to our hobby and there are 42 figures of Perry Zouaves on my painting table which need to be send to Krisztian. I prepared them fixing them on washers, sanding these washers, priming the whole figures and also prepainting the bases.

I noticed that it is was quite hard to sand and paint the washers by drybrushing them after the figures had been fixed on the bases by four without touching the paint of the finished figures. So this time I think that this kind of method could be much more easier.

In the foreground of the pictures showing the prepared minis you can seen two already painted Zouaves of the 5th NewYork Volunteers. The Perry box consists of 42 figures and as I fix them by four on my bases these two guys were left and could not be attached to their unit right now. 

I want Krisztian to paint another two men in the uniform of the 5th NY Volunteers so the base can be completed.

As the 5th NewYork Volunteers had been a force of the Union and our gaming group needs more rebels I decided to let the left 40 men painted as a Confederate Zouave unit - Wheat´s Tiger Rifles.
The last two photos show the supplement of the Perry box which is always a great submission for painting.

I hope that Krisztian has time to paint them as soon as possible. ;)
