Hi,
Merry Christmas to everyone and a lot of health, luck and enough time for our hobby.
Yesterday my personal Christmas gift has arrived. I found these two sets on ebay and I think they are hard to find here in Germany. So it was a must have. :)
Now my artillery has increased to at least two pieces of artillery (one british and one french) and at least six british gunners.
The figures belong to the series of "Battle on the Monongahela 1755" and in my opinion they do look great.
This battle was a desaster for the British Army.
Major-General Edward Braddock and his force of about 2.200 men had been on an expedition against Fort Duquesne and got ambushed on their way by a French and Indian force consisting of about 250 French soldiers and about 630 Indian warriors.
On the British side, from the 1.373 NCOs and men who took part to the engagement, only 459 came off unharmed. of 96 officers, 73 were killed or disabled. The wounded men left on the field were killed.
Here is a link to the pages of kronoskaf.com. It deals with the battle and tells that there had been also a detachment of 20 men of the Royal Regiment of Artillery. So - with my six men I am quite near to the original strength of this unit. :)
