Hi,

Still in hospital, but I am hopeful to get released on Wednesday. After more than four weeks in hospital I can’t await to get back home. My cool cellar is awaiting me with lots of minis to be painted and some modeling projects that want to be finished.

In order to forget about the cruel temperatures outside and to distract from being here, I scrolled through my pictures on my phone. I have found some photos comparing two manufacturers and their ranges of FrenchIndianWar. ConteCollectibles and JohnJenkinsDesigns.

First of all I have to point out that my absolute favorite manufacturer of toysoldiers is JohnJenkinsDesigns, maybe because of the lots of ranges that caught my interest. The different ranges concerning the FrenchIndianWar are absolutely stunning and the woodland Indians in my opinion are the best sculpted ones from all manufacturers. Maybe FirstLegion could be of more detail , but I like the style of JohnJenkins most. 

But I also like the ranges of ConteCollectibles. The rangers are also fantastic and look like the ones from the movie „Northwest Passage“ with Spencer Tracy.. The small vignettes showing rangers and woodland Indians in hand to hand fight are also very cool.

So here are some pictures comparing both manufacturers.

Toysoldiers - "Tyrolean Rebellion" by PianoWargames - Just three more figures painted

Hi,

just painted up at least three more figures for my collection concerning the Tyrolean Rebellion. The figures are all from PianoWargames, created and owned by Lucas Luber. The figures are normally scaled in 28mm and as you maybe have seen in a former post I also use them in this scale for my project of "Shakos and Bayonets". But I also scale them up to 60mm in order to integrate them into my collection of toysoldiers.

It is always fun to paint these figures and I think they came out quite well.

At the moment I am searching for a perfect way to display the figures. There are two empty shelves within my two bigger showcases left and so I gave one of them to the topic "Tyrolean Rebellion". As the collection is growing it is not very clever to build a final layout at the moment. So the arrangement is kept modular to be able to change it to the collection´s needs.

I also posted these figures in a group on facebook and was asked how they fit to Napoleonic figures of other manufacturers like King&Country. I recognized that the only Napoleonic figures I have within my collection is the range of Napoleonic Soldiers by DelPrado. I don´t have Napoleonics from my other preferred manufacturers. So you will find some pictures of my selfpainted Tyroleans next to the ready painted figures of JohnJenkins, King&Country, DelPrado, TeamMiniatures, FirstLegion, ConteCollectibles and WilliamBritains. Though only DelPrado is the right period of warfare I recognized that the figures of PianoWargames do really harmonize with all of the other manufacturers.

I was lucky to find some very suitable trees on eBay.

The Bavarians will need some reinforcements, too.

The second cabinet with the last empty shelf. But I am sure this one is going
to be filled with figures soon. It´s the choice between one more shelf for
FIW or at least one for AWI.

Toysoldiers - A visit to Steve Ault´s collection

Hi,

while planning out trip to "Warfare 2024" in Farnborough I asked within a facebook-group for shops selling toysoldiers around that area.

Steve told me that there would be some in London but not near Farnborough. But as he lives near Farnborough he invited me to meet him at home and to have a look at his collection. This was a great honor and so I went to his house in the evening after having been to "Warfare 2024" the whole day.

Thank you Steve for your invitation, your hints concerning our tour, your kindness and sympathy. 

Be assured that you are welcome to visit my home if you should ever come to Germany or Bavaria though my collection cannot compete with yours. But I will take you to "Historicum" in Schmalkalden.  Historicum Schmalkalden

And of course - Culloden 1745. This range is also one of my favorites though I have not started 
collecting it yet.

A good inspiration for displaying my own "Battle on snowshoes" - a range I have completed.

Andrea´s stagecoach - very impressive.

As you can see - Steve has a small museum within his house.

Another highlight - Rorke´s Drift. 
This display has more figures than I have within my whole collection I guess.
