Rome - Republican Army - Hastatii

Manufacturer:  Xyston
Scale:  15mm

Hi,

I hope you all had a great Christmas and the list of presents you got is rather long. :)

Today I´m posting a few pictures of the Republican Romans Krisztian Takasc is painting for me and he does a great job.
I don´t like painting 15mm figures, but I like to have an impressive army.
Impressive for me means that I decided to have at least seven different troop types each with eight stands consisting of eight figures.
In addition there will be some skirmishers, too.

These troops are planned for an army for Armati and could also be used for Hail Caesar.
The only thing missing is to finalize the bases and some repainting on a few figures that had been damaged by transportation.

But the first troop type with 64 men is placed on its bases and looks like this.

Cheers
Mike

Just consider to be one of the opposing enemies realizing that there will be a lot of pila thrown at yours very soon.

A view front the flank.

Another formation.

Again a few from a flank.

Not to forget the other side.

The figures for the next paint job ready for cleaning. I hate this job. :(

This is how the next 64 men will look like - a strong force of Roman Triarii.

  1. I hate the cleaning up job as well, though unlike you I do like painting 15mm. Impressive unit, a whole army will be rather menacing.

    1. Hi Ian,

I decided to concentrate on 28mm. 15mm is only to get an army suitable for the mentioned rule systems. But it would take me too long to paint the figures.

    1. Hi Phil,
I always like such mass formations. The best thing would be to have an army that exactly consists of the number of a Roman Legion as shown in the book of Peter Conolly. A long way to go. :)
