SYW - Karlstädter-Lykaner - Reinforcements for an existing unit

Manufacturer:  FrontRank Miniatures

Scale:  28mm

Hi again,

a few years ago I have built up my Austrian Army to fit the rules of Sam Mustafa´s "Maurice". The units existed of four bases with four figures each concerning the infantry and four bases with two figures each concerning cavalry.

As my comrads are more likely to play using the rules of "BlackPowder" I had the problem to increase my units to give them a better look. As I like my regiments to carry their flags in the middle of the unit I decided to give my regiments one more base.

My Grenzers also had only four bases with three men each and so I had to paint up three more figures.

The unit existed of figures of CrusaderMiniatures and as I didn´t have some more to paint them up I wondered if the figures of FrontRank would fit - and in my opinion they do fit very well.

So the reinforcements for my Grenzers are made of FrontRank Miniatures.

Cheers

SYW - Commanders for my Austrian Army - Baron Ernst Gideon von Loudon

Manufacturer:  FrontRank Miniatures

Scale:  28mm

Hi,

here is the third and also the last of the three brigade Commanders I needed for my Austrian force for "BlackPowder". Now it´s done I will be able to place at least three brigades of my Austrian Army.

This time the Commander is the FrontRank figure of Baron Ernst Gideon von Loudon.

I love the figures of FrontRank very much as the poses are excellent and the figures are really fun to paint.

As I love to create little dioramas concerning the bases of the Commanders this time I had a little problem.

The figure of Loudon is looking upride while he is waving his hat and now the challenge was to give him a suitable counterpart. Ok, maybe I should have placed another Cavalry figure, but I didn´t have one.

As the aristocrats and people in the 18th century had been very godly my first idea was to build up a cross. Loudon´s pose would look like he was praising the Lord and asking for the Lord´s help in battle.

But in BlackPowder the Commanders sometimes are moved to units with the order of "follow me". It might look strange if the cross would walk with Loudon around the battlefield.

The second thought was to place a flagbearer next to the General and now Loudon is waving his hat to honour the insigns of the crown represented by the flag.

Both ideas in mind I decided to put some magnets on the base next to Loudon and so I am able to do both - placing the cross or the flagbearer.

Hope you like it.

Cheers

SYW - Commanders for my Austrian Army - General

 Manufacturer:  FrontRank Miniatures

Scale:  28mm

Hi,

I currently working on my Austrian Army of the SYW.

Using the rules of "BlackPowder" and the supplement "Last Arguments of Kings" I had to paint up some Commanders for the different brigades that I want to bring onto the battlefield.

The Commander in Chief has already been painted about 4 or 5 years ago and is the FrontRank figure of Field Marshal Prince Charles of Lorraine.

The miniature of this post is also a FrontRank figure and shows a normal Austrian General.

As I like my commanders to be placed on multi-figure bases I decided to let this guy be accompanied by two Austrian Artillerymen I didn´t know where to add them.

More to come soon. :)

Cheers

Blood&Plunder - A little figure extension

Scale:  28mm

Manufacturer:  WizKids

Hi,

today´s short post is about a extension for Blood&Plunder.

A figure that probably never will find a place on the gaming table. But as I had seen this figure it was a must have and it had been great fun to paint it up.

Ladies and gentlemen - here it is - my great white shark.

SevenYearsWar - The Bavarian Regiment Minucci - WIP

 Scale:  28mm

Manufacturer:  Dreispitz Miniatures

Hi,

This is just a WIP concerning the Bavarian Regiment of Minucci.

The figures are from the range of DreispitzMiniatures, a range that I had in mind about 8 years ago.

I gave a regiment of figures to a good friend of mine as he was interested to paint up some historical miniatures. Many thanks to Dominik Erven for this great paint job.

And here is the result of the first figures. There are some figures left for I decided to give some standard bearers to the regiment. I know that grenadiers had no flags on the battlefield but I will give some flags to my own unit.

So more pictures to come...

Cheers

Mike

JohnJenkinsDesign - Leuthen 1757

Hi,

this is a short post about my other hobby-interest concerning model soldiers - collecting the figures of JohnJenkinsDesign.

http://www.johnjenkinsdesigns.com/

I love these figures very much and would be proud to posses all of them.

If you have a look at the website of  JohnJenkins you very soon will recognize that this is a dream that will never come true for you have to be a kind of millionaire. This has two reasons. The first one is the money you will need and the second one is the storage place.

I started to collect these kind of figures several years ago. I also own some figures from the ranges of "King&Country", but within the first years the collection grew to round about 10 figures in total from almost the same number of different ranges.

It started with buying one or two single figures at Kulmbach (Internationale Zinnfigurenbörse) many years ago and every time I visited this fair I bought another one or two. The fair is held only every two years and I wasn´t able to get there every time it took place.

Last year I decided to get some structure into this small and until when slow growing collection.

There are many interesting ranges and as I am a great fan of the SevenYearsWar and the FrenchIndianWar you could imagine which range is wanted to be the first on my shelves - yes, "The Battle of Leuthen".

Meanwhile the collection has grown quite well, though it is not easy to get all figures of a range as some figures are already sold out.

There are only a few items of this range missing, but it will take me some time to get the "sold out" ones.

So here are some pictures of the collection so far.

Hope you like it :)

Cheers

Blood & Plunder - Support for the "Tortuga" - the bark "Seahorse"

Manufacturer:   FirelockGames
Scale:   28mm

Hi,

today just a short post about my second ship for Blood&Plunder  -  the bark "Seahorse".

I wanted to give this bark a similar look to the brigantine just to show they belong to the same faction.

Still not knowing how to do the sails. But they are ready for the first games.

Don´t worry about the bottles in the background - I have it under control :)

Cheers
